Scott Bradley to Join SpeedSource for Grand-Am Cup Finale at California Speedway
Fontana, CA – October 29, 2004 – With the Grand Am Cup Series championship coming down to the wire, Scott Bradley announced today that he will team up with Charles Espenlaub in a third SpeedSource Mazda RX-8 for the chance to help primary SpeedSource drivers Sylvain Tremblay and David Haskell in their pursuit of the Sport Touring Class championship.
"I'm excited to be joining the SpeedSource team this weekend as Sylvain and Dave battle for the championship, and look forward to working with Charles," Bradley said. "The chance to join up with my Speed World Challenge rival and work together as opposed to battling each other the way we do normally should be a blast!"
Both Bradley and Espenlaub, who campaign Mazda Protegés in the touring car class of the Speed World Challenge Series, will now turn their attention to piloting the flagship of the Mazda line, the new RX-8. "Earlier this year I had the opportunity to do some hot laps in a street legal RX-8 so I can't wait to get my hands on the race version," Bradley exclaimed. "SpeedSource has also put together an impressive rookie season in the class, winning four of the last five races, so I'm looking forward to a good result that will help push Sylvain and Dave to the title."
With a career that has included karting, formula cars, sports cars, drifting and prototypes, Bradley has adapted quickly to whatever vehicle he has climbed into and is thankful to be given the opportunity, once again, to drive something new.
"I have to thank Mazda, SpeedSource, and Circuit City as well as Jim Jordan and Sylvain Tremblay, for putting me behind the wheel this weekend," Bradley commented.
The Lexus Grand American 250, scheduled for a 2:00 PM Pacific Time start on Saturday, October 29th, will feature 89 laps around the 2.8-mile infield road course at California Speedway in Fontana, California. Tickets are still available online at www.californiaspeedway.com.
