Local Kids Get Time with Driver Scott Bradley
Motorsports Pro to Meet Special Needs Students of Spectrum Center

Santa Clara, CA – July 5, 2005 – Scott Bradley has an exciting job, especially to kids. As a professional race car driver with the Circuit City/Protomotive team, Bradley is a role model for many Bay Area boys and girls.

On Wednesday, July 6 at 12:30 PM, Bradley will make a guest appearance at Pleasant Hill Middle School for a group of about 45 kids in the special needs program of Spectrum Center. Spectrum Center, in partnership with Mount Diablo Unified School District, offers an inclusion program for students with high functioning Autism and/or Aspergers held at Pleasant Hill Middle School, and a classroom serving students with mild cognitive delays at Sequoia Middle School in Pleasant Hill. These programs stress development of social skills as well as academics.

“Involvement with young people is important and means a lot to me. I enjoy showing my support and interest by spending time with kids,” said Bradley, who is generous with adult race fans as well, offering travel prize raffles at local races as a way to say thanks. “I remember what it’s like to have a role model, I still do.”

At 28-years-old, it wasn’t so long ago that this kid from Santa Clara was driving go-karts and spending weekends at the local racetracks with his dad. Now fulfilling his professional dream, Bradley’s message to kids of all ages is simple: hard work, commitment and the drive to be the best at whatever you do will bring satisfaction. The success will follow.

Then Bradley will host a day at the track for the Spectrum kids and their parents on Thursday, July 14 at Infineon Raceway in Sonoma. The youths will have the opportunity to tour the facility and see the cars, drivers and teams up-close and personal before race weekend begins on Friday. Round seven of the SPEED World Challenge Touring Car 2005 season takes place July 15-17 at Infineon.

“We are delighted to have Scott come to the summer program to visit with the kids and sign autographs. They are looking forward to the special day and the chance to go out to the track to following week,” said Catherine Lindsey, Assistant Program Director of the Spectrum Center, whose motto is Every Student Succeeds! “This is a big event for the kids and we thank Scott for sharing his time with all of us.”

Pleasant Hill Middle School is located at 3100 Oak Park Blvd. in Pleasant Hill. Bradley will be available for autographs, questions and interviews from 12:30 PM to 2PM at the campus. Snacks will be served to the kids.

Then on July 14, the kids’ day at the track will begin mid-morning at Infineon, include lunch and a tour. Media is welcome and encouraged to attend both events.
