Rocky Mountain High Affects Mazda 6 Motor at Grand Prix of Denver
Scott Bradley & Circuit City/Protomotive Team Deliver 16th Place Finish

Santa Clara, CA – August 17, 2005 – High altitude and high hopes turned out a 16th place finish for Scott Bradley and the Circuit City/Protomotive team during last weekend’s round nine of the SPEED World Challenge Touring Car race at the CENTRIX Financial Grand Prix of Denver, Colorado.

“During Friday practice I found the car to be pretty drivable and consistent,” explained Bradley, 28, of Santa Clara, California. “But we immediately had motor problems which I think came from the high altitude in Denver. This proved to be our biggest struggle all weekend and we were never able to sort it out.”

For qualifying, the team made some small changes and picked up a bit in terms of the chassis, but there was a problem with one of the front suspension pieces working its way lose. Bradley said during the first lap the car “was decent” before things quickly went down the tube. He immediately drove to pit lane but they unable to locate the problem, so he returned to the track and put in the best lap he could under the circumstances. This effort landed them in 20th place.

”I was hopeful we'd be able to make up some positions and crack the top 15 for the race,” said Bradley, who consistently keeps level headed and focused on delivering results despite the challenges. “However, on the pace lap the power steering failed and I knew I was in for a long race.”

The lack of power steering combined with the continued issue with the motor made for a very interesting challenge, he explained. Bradley said he did a lot of "improvising" in his driving style to trick the car around the course and make the most of what he had. He managed to drive home a 16th place finish among a field of more than 20 cars.

“In the end, 16th was not a bad result. It was just not what we had hoped for,” said Bradley who always remembers to thank the sponsors for their commitment to him and the team. “We appreciate the ongoing support of Circuit City, Kicker, Peak Travel Group and Travel Promotions Network.”

Round 10 of the SPEED World Challenge Touring Car challenge takes place September 2-4 at Mosport International Raceway in Bowmanville, Ontario, Canada. Then Bradley and the Circuit City/Protomotive team return home to Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca in Monterey, California, October 14-16 for the final round 11 of the SWC competition.
