Bradley set for ALMS 675 debut with Essex Racing
Monday, September 2, 2003. San Jose, CA.Childhood
dreams will be fulfilled this weekend when Scott Bradley makes his American Le
Mans Series debut at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca in the Essex Racing Lola Nissan
P675, competing in front of his hometown fans at the track where his passion for
Motorsports was ignited.
I remember coming here with my dad when I was little to
watch the Monterey Sports Car races and dreaming of racing sportscars here
someday, Bradley explained. To be able to make my American Le Mans Series
debut at my hometown track, where I clinched the 2001 Star Mazda Series
Championship is a dream come true.
Bradley, who has competed in two partial seasons of Speed
World Challenge Touring Car competition since winning the Star Mazda Series
championship is equally excited to be working with Mike Gue and Tony Dowe and
the rest of the Essex Racing organization.
I had known of Mike and Tony long before I ever met
them, Bradley said. I first knew of Mike when I was racing in the F2000
series and he was the Van Diemen importer to the US. Every time I picked up a
book about Formula Ford his name was right there.
I first heard about Tony when he was running the TWR
Jaguar and CBS did a special on Le Mans for 48 Hours, Bradley continued.
He was talking about race strategies and I remember thinking that I want to
work with someone like that someday. It is surreal to be sitting here almost
fifteen years later, working with these very people right in my backyard.
Paired with Jason Workman, who currently sits in fifth place
in the 675 driver points standings, Bradley seeks to soak up as much information
as he can and help the team score positive results. Im sure there will be
much to learn this weekend, fortunately I will be working with some incredibly
knowledgeable people, Bradley related. Im looking forward to working
with Jason behind the wheel and doing everything I can to make the most from
this opportunity and make this a successful weekend for Essex Racing.
The Frys Electronics Sports Car Championships, Round Seven
of the American Le mans Series, will start Friday, September 5th,
with the 2 hour and 45 minute race being held on Sunday, September 7th,
at 12 noon.
